Clark and Daughtrey's IT department was apprehensive about their network security. The SonicWall firewalls at this multispecialty medical group--the oldest and largest in central Florida --"just did a very poor job of keeping out the spyware and the viruses," explains David Stephenson, Information Systems Manager at Clark and Daughtrey. In addition, managing multiple point solutions proved too much work for their small IT team and prevented them from properly addressing other important IT issues.
"We wanted an all inclusive solution," explains Stephenson. "Back then, we had to combine multiple solutions to try to accomplish the same thing. It was very hard to manage and maintain.
After evaluating products from both Cisco and Checkpoint, which were both expensive and difficult to use, Clark and Daughtrey chose to implement the Astaro Security Gateway, "We immediately noticed our helpdesk tickets drop in regards to malware. We haven't looked back since," Stephenson explains. The company was so pleased, they went on to implement more Astaro's in the field: "We actually have a total of eight of them now."
The eight different Astaro Security Gateways that Clark and Daughtrey currently use are put to work in various scenarios, exemplifying the versatility of the product.
Protecting approximately 500 users, Stephenson couldn't be happier with Astaro's results. He considers ease of use one of the top features of the product, but he also stresses its reliability. "For me, it's rock solid. It's always working." In addition, Stephenson is now able to boast, "We are spyware, malware and virus free. We have not had any incidences at all. What a big relief." He concludes, "We certainly plan on staying with Astaro."
